Prioritizing District 45:
Hatem El-Gamasy's Vision for Change
Enough is Enough: It's Time to Put Us First
Our District, Our Voice, Our Future
In District 45, our community faces challenges that demand real solutions—not political rhetoric. I’m running for City Council to prioritize our needs: ensuring public safety, supporting small businesses, and enhancing our quality of life. Together, we can create a Brooklyn where everyone thrives.

As an immigrant myself, I understand their fears and struggles,
and I share their vision for a better future for everyone.
In our City, bureaucrats and officials often believe that every problem—big or small—can be solved by issuing tickets and fines. When that doesn't work, they double down, increasing penalties and imposing more regulations that burden hardworking New Yorkers.
They allocate millions for dog parks and metal fences to guard street trees, yet struggle to fund public schools, social programs, or even provide adequate lighting on our streets.
Our City Council has no problem approving massive tax breaks for landlords with thousands of housing violations. In 2023, Farah Louis, who has been the City Council Member for District 45 since 2019, approved a $191 million tax break for the landlord of Flatbush Gardens—a complex with nearly 3,000 outstanding housing code violations. Meanwhile, our small businesses face hefty fines and receive little support. Mom-and-pop stores are the backbone of our community, yet they're left to fend for themselves.
I'm running to change this. We can't remain silent while our needs are ignored. It's time to make this election about us—the people—not about re-electing career politicians who are out of touch with our daily struggles.
As a hardworking New Yorker, just like you, I'm committed to prioritizing our community's demands and needs over bureaucratic interests. Join me in breaking the cycle and changing the status quo.
Let's make it happen. Let's win this—for us.

District 45, Brooklyn
We Are an Overregulated City
New York City has become a maze of excessive regulations, burdening residents and small businesses alike. It's time to simplify our city's laws and make life more manageable for everyone. As your City Council Member, and with your support, I will fight to:
Simplify City Laws:
End the cycle of overregulation that complicates daily life. From confusing parking rules to excessive fines, we need clear, fair, and reasonable laws that serve the people, not hinder them.
Support Our Small Businesses:
Small businesses are the backbone of our community, yet they're drowning in red tape and punitive fines. Let's cut unnecessary regulations and provide the support they need to thrive.
Ensure No Child Goes Hungry:
In a city of abundance, no child should face hunger. We'll prioritize funding for school meal programs and community food initiatives to ensure every child has access to nutritious meals.
Stop Tax Breaks for Abusive Landlords:
It's unacceptable that landlords with thousands of housing violations receive massive tax breaks. We'll end these giveaways and hold landlords accountable for providing safe, livable conditions.
Prioritize Community Needs Over Misguided Spending:
Allocating millions for projects like dog parks while essential services suffer shows misplaced priorities. We'll ensure city funds address real community needs, like education, housing, and public safety.
Leadership That Listens:
Our current leadership has lost touch with the people they serve. As your City Council Member, I'll be present, responsive, and committed to addressing the real issues facing our community.
Together, we'll build a stronger, more inclusive District 45—a community where everyone thrives.
